The Regeneradores Summit in Latin America convenes leaders, experts, and communities committed to landscape regeneration and sustainability in the region

On April 22, at Universidad EAN, we hosted the official launch of the Regeneradores Summit, an international convening that will bring together over 1,300 people from July 1 to 3 in Cali, Colombia, to accelerate the transition toward regenerative agriculture and livestock ranching in Latin America.
Spearheaded by The Nature Conservancy (TNC) and Future Landscapes, the Regeneradores Summit seeks to foster an agrifood system that restores soils, regenerates ecosystems, ensures healthier and more stable food supplies, and
strengthens local economies.
Latin America: A continent of regeneration
Latin America is currently one of the world's largest food producers, while simultaneously harboring between 40% and 60% of global biodiversity. However, the expansion of agro-industrial production in many parts of the region has led to accelerated soil degradation, water scarcity, biodiversity loss, and increased climate risks.

Agrifood regeneration proposes a production approach that bridges science and local knowledge to actively conserve and restore ecosystems within and around ranching and ranching areas, while simultaneously improving their productivity and social impact. This new model is not only environmentally responsible; it also represents a viable, resilient, and equitable economic alternative to the vulnerability of current productive systems.

Among the confirmed voices and leaders for the Summit are Paula Caballero, Director of TNC Latin America and internationally recognized for championing the Sustainable Development Goals; environmental advocate Javier Peña, creator of the Hope! channel and the docuseries "Hope! Estamos a tiempo"; Argentine researcher Pablo Tittonell, referente en agroecología y regeneración sistémica; y el consultor chileno Ronald Sistek, a specialist in regenerative thinking.
"Regenerative agriculture not only protects ecosystems: it enhances producer profitability, mitigates risks associated with climate shocks, and unlocks genuine opportunities for rural development."
Stated Mauricio Castro Schmitz, Director of Regenerative Agriculture for Latin America at The Nature Conservancy, during the event launch.

More than an event, the Regeneradores Summit drives a movement that invites governments, corporations, producers, researchers, and consumers to be part of the solution. Because regeneration is not a passing trend. On a planet threatened by the climate crisis, food insecurity, and polarization, producing food regeneratively is one of the most powerful decisions we can make for the planet and for future generations.
The Summit Regeneradores is organized by Future Landscapes, a TNC initiative in partnership with the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research (UFZ) and Nestlé, backed by the German government's International Climate Initiative (IKI). It also features the participation of food companies, rural entrepreneurs, universities, research centers, and smallholder and Indigenous communities already implementing regenerative solutions in Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Paraguay, and Argentina.
